Regardless of the case you are investigating, the task pattern is the same for all of them.

Mission: Design a name and a logo for your agency (webpage)

Task: Choose a name for you agency and design a logo which matches your webpage style and your name. Be creativ​

Context​: You have been contacted by New Scotland Yard to help in the investigation of the disappearance of a key character in a famous painting. 

 

Mission: Introduce yourselves to the New Scotland Yard and the Museum director so that they can get to know you better.

Task: Create a talking avatar of each of you explaining who you are (you can invent a secret agent name) and your role in the investigation. You should also mention your skills (what you are good at) and your personality.

Level One

Opening the Case

Context​: After visiting and examining the crime scene, you have to identify the painting and the missing character.

 

Mission: Find out information about the painting.

​

Task: Make a fact file in landscape format of the painting containing the following information:
A complete image of the painting / Title of the painting / Artist / Year it was painted / Missing character (a sentence describing who is missing) /Year it was painted / Name of the museum / City / Technique / Dimensions / Art Movement

Context​: Before taking any action, you need to have a clear description of the situation.

 

Mission: Describe the painting.

​

Task: Using the information in the factfile, make a description of the painting. Apart from including the basic information, describe what you can see in the painting.

Level Two

Investigating the Case

Context​: You have assessed the risk after the character has been reported missing.

 

Mission: Issue a press release to help locate the missing character.

​

Task: Describe the missing character in full detail (poster format). The detailed description should include: gender, age, height in centimetres, description of clothing when last seen and where missing from, photograph of suitable quality and  circumstances of the incident. Remember to include a telephone number to contact you in case of sighting.

Context​: You have carried out the first steps into finding the missing characters. It is the normal procedure to write a police report in which you will expose the facts and the actions taken as objectively as possible.

 

Mission: Inform New Scotland Yard and the Museum on the case of your missing character.

​

Task: Write a report including everything you saw and did at the scene of the crime. Remember that Police report narratives are always written in chronological order so that there is never a need to back up to explain anything.
Include descriptions of the following: arrival at the scene, primary officer’s statement, security procedures, the incident scene, photographies, collection of evidence , Catalog of Evidence (list of photos, physical evidence, etc.)

Context​: The artist is a renowned painter who has contributed to the world´s art masterpieces.

 

Mission: Find out who the artist was and his/her importance and major contributions in the history of art.

​

Task: Write a report on the artist (sort of biography) including his/her pictoric style and topics, his/her techniques and his/her major contributions to the history of Art. Remember to include links to the sources of information you have used (webliography).

Context​: The painting is a renowned world´s art masterpiece.

 

Mission: Find out what the painting means in the historical context (it may have different meanings or interpretations) and why it is important in the history of Art.

​

Task: Write a report on the masterpiece including why it is special, what the artist tried to convey through the objects and/or characters depicted in it, and any annecdote surrounding the painting. Remember to include links to the sources of information you have used (webliography).

Where is the missing character  ?

Level Three

Closing  the Case

Context​: Now you know where the character is (city and exact place in it)

 

Mission: Trace the character´s route.

​

Task: Create a map showing the character´s route towards his/her destination. Mark all the stops and try to provide the reason(s) why the character went there and what impulsed him /her to go to his final destination.

Context​: The good news is on the papers. The character is coming back to the painting.

 

Mission: To inform the public opinion about the case.

​

Task: Write a newspaper article explaining the whole story. You can invent a fake interview with the character and use his/her own words to support and provide realism to the article.
      Instead of a newspaper article, you can write a tale (short story) about the event.

Write a story in a word document, convert it to pdf. Then, use issuu to upload the document and generate a flash book to be embedded in your site.
