BREAKING NEWS!

Curators at some of the most important museums in the world have reported the disappearance of key characters in their art masterpieces. 

​

Despite the security measures, the characters have either managed to escape them or they have been kidnapped by professional criminals.

​

In view of the complexity of the cases, New Scotland Yard has asked for private investigators and detectives to cooperate with the tracing of the missing characters.

​

You and your partners own a detective agency and think this is a great opportunity to make yourselves known.

 

By solving the case, not only will you enjoy great prestige, but you will also get accredited as a police officer by the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS).

YOU HAVE A

You and your partners will have to take some challenges (carry out some tasks) related to art and, more especifically, to the painting core of your case.

​

As you overcome the challenges (finish the tasks), you will find new clues which will help you solve the mystery and find the whereabouts of the character in order to bring it back.

​

At the end of each challenge (task), you will earn badges which you will be able to redeem. Each task can be done at two different levels of difficulty. The harder you work, the more badges you will get.

​

There are also take voluntary challenges (tasks) which will provide you with extra points. At the end of the game, you can redeem the points for badges.

At specific points in the investigation of your case, you will be able to redeem the badges for new clues. 

​

At the end of the game, you must state where the character is.

​

If you do not know where the character is but you still have some badges left, you can redeem them for 2 more extra clues.

 

If you know where the character is without needing extra clues, good for you! 

 

Depending on the number of badges left, you will get accredited as a Scotland Yard Police Officer according to the following rank:

1 to 3 badges left

SUPERINTENDENT

4 to 6 badges left

COMMANDER

7 to 10 badges left

PLAYERS: ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

PRIVATE INVESTIGATOR

You are a very observant person. You pay attention to minor details and think logically. You can read between lines. You are calm and thoughtful. 

​

You are the leader in the group, which means you will:

  • Keep the group on task and make sure everyone participates. 

  • Announce when time is halfway through and when time is nearly up.

  • Use clarity thinking during discussions to make sure everyone understands 

  • Lead the team in assessment and critical thinking, making sure you all think about how well you are working together, and what areas you need to improve. 

  • Check data

  • Lead the tasks related to finding good information sources which connect with the clues.

 

You are the only one who can contact New Scotland Yard (the teacher) to ask questions or require further explanations.

iNVESTIGATOR´S ASSISTANT

You are a very tidy and organised person. You are good at visual and spacial challenges. You like images, maps and graphic organisers.

​

You are the leader´s assistant, which means you will:

  • Collect data for the tasks.

  • Record results and make sure everyone agrees.

  • Compile group members’ ideas on collaborative graphic organizers. 

  • Make sure all other team members check data.

  • Lead the tasks to be done on visual support: fact file, poster, map route, images and links on the webpage.

You are the only one that can collect supplies or any other materials needed for the tasks.

You are a very imaginative and creative person. You like reading and telling stories, tales and jokes. You like listening to people and communicate well.

 

You are the media representative, which means you will:

  • Read aloud the questions being answered by the team.

  • Check mistakes (grammatical, spelling, syntax, etc) in the website.

  • Check data.

  • Write down group members’ ideas.

  • Lead the tasks related to writing: blog entries, newspaper article, tale,

You are the only one who can work on the webpage while in class.

Remember

  • Group members are responsible for the performance of each individual learner.  

​

  • Group members are individually accountable and must be able to report on or explain the team’s results. 

​

  • The teacher is a resource; students are in charge of their own learning.
